A telescope for everyone

Speaking of kids, here’s a follow up to my post on being an astronomer yesterday. It’s a short article on a “Worldwide telescope coming in March”. This article comes from EarthSky.

Is spring here yet?

Since the kids and I just ordered our seeds for this years garden, I thought I would mention a few articles on gardening.

The first article, “Become a Kitchen Gardener” comes from Ecospace and gives you lots of information on how to become a kitchen gardener and a couple of websites to find more out more stuff.

The next article also comes from Ecospace and it’s entitled “Backyard Farms”.  As someone who has one, I thought I would spread the joy.

This third article, yet again from Ecospace, is “Chickens in the Backyard“. While I don’t have any myself, I have contemplated it. In fact, a great book along those lines is one entitled “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver. Go here to find a good, used copy.

Tools of the trade

Here are a couple of websites that I thought were very interesting:

The first website is called Walk Score: Find a Great Neighborhood. They let you calculate how walkable your neighborhood is.

The other website is a little more abstract. It’s designed to let you find out the wind speed in your neighborhood at various heights. It’s called First Look.  If you need a reason to visit this website, check out this article entitled “Helping Developers Map Out Renewable Energy Source”.
