Seed time

As the last of my seeds finally came in yesterday, I thought I would share a couple of articles on gardening.  The first was in the New York Times last Thursday, entitled “Backyards, Beware: An Orchard Wants your Spot” by Steven Kurutz. It’s a great article on what one might call an outgrowth of the local-food movement.

The next article is called “Green Basics: Local Food” by Collin Dunn over at Treehugger.  This article also relates to the local-food movement and the 100 mile diet (buying food that hasn’t been produce outside a 100 mile radius from where you live.).

This last one is all about the “100 Foot Diet Challenge” over at Ecospace and talks about that same philosophy of a 100 mile radius.

Sincerely-

Green Librarian
