Life at the beach

Okay, this one couldn’t wait, I don’t know why. I think beachcombing is something I would love to do, even if I didn’t get paid for it. Anyway, it’s apparently a hobby or job that’s going by the wayside as it were. Check out “Dutch Beachcombers – A Dying Breed”, again from Chris at Newslook.

Happy Holidays!

Deja Vu

When I saw this story over at Yahoo! this morning, “New Mexico wildfires merge; blazes rage in five states” from Reuters, I immediately thought of Philip Conners book (which I wrote about earlier), Fire Season: Field Notes from a Wilderness Lookout.

Keep good thoughts!

Moose on the loose

Now a while back I posted a story about one of my kid’s favorite musicians, Farmer Jason and so when I saw this story, it took me back to one of his songs entitled “Moose on the Loose”. So here’s the story of a video of a real Moose ‘Just Running Around’ from Chris at Newslook via Care2 and here’s a video of that great song by Farmer Jason and Todd Snider.

Dark dwellings

A while back I read a great book on local (sort of) caves in Minnesota entitled Subterranean Twin Cities by Greg Brick.  Well now I just saw the movie Cave of Forgotten Dreams by Werner Herzog and while the two are completely different, I enjoyed both. Well worth checking out at your local library.

So along those same lines, I came across this article entitled “Oldest Art Even Older: German Cave Findings” over at Science Daily. Caves are so cool!
