Okay, it’s sort of a play on word on the book I’m reading right now entitled What is Landscape by John R. Stilgoe. In that book, the author spends a lot time going over the variations and definition of words used throughout the world used to describe landscape over the last several hundred years.
In this article, entitled “Why do languages have different sounds for the same animals? Farm animals don’t oink and moo everywhere around the globe” Laura Moss discusses the words used by humans to describe the sounds animals make and the variations of those words by languages throughout the world. Who knew we had so much in common with the rest of the animal kingdom?
