Horseshoe crabs

As I’ve talked about before, horseshoe crabs are a favorite of mine, ever since I  read “Horseshoe Crabs and Velvet Worms: The Story of the Animals and Plants That Time Has Left Behind”  by Richard Fortey. So when I came across this article, I was disturbed.

The article is entitled “Medical Labs May Be Killing Horseshoe Crabs: Drawing the crabs’ blue blood for vital medical testing can condemn the animals to die, even after they are returned to the sea” by Caren Chesler. Hopefully, we’ll start to re-think how we treat them.
