Sunny cloudy day

So this is the type of picture I usually get at night, which I like but for some reason, I was able to get it in the evening. I love how the sun is sort of blurred out by the clouds.

I think that the tree there, which unfortunately is dead now, also gives the picture a sort of eerie look to it. Back in the day, in the fall, that tree always looked so amazing when the leaves turned orange.

In fact, I have a great picture of the tree in the fall, where it was a bright orange and the tree in our yard (which is now gone) was a beautiful yellow. I’ll have to dig it out now that I transferred all of the pictures off my phone to a flashdrive.

Early evening sky

So tonight’s picture is the first one I’ve posted in quite some time in which I took with my phone instead of my camera. Of course that’s because I was out running errands instead of on one of my picture taking adventures.

Only recently have I’ve started taking with my phone again and honestly I think this was a good decision today, which will probably lead to more down the road. I have to admit, ever since I’ve started going on my little adventures, I’ve found myself now keeping an eye out for possible picture, even when I don’t have my camera.

I have to admit, this picture was well worth it. I love the contrast between the clouds and how the rays shine from behind the clouds.

To be or not to be

There’s nothing like starting off a post with a little Shakespeare. I had a teacher in college who absolutely loved Shakespeare and while I wasn’t a huge fan, I’m suddenly sitting here thinking, maybe I should go and find some of his poetry.

Anyway, the question I posed to myself tonight was whether or not to post this picture I took of the sunset last night. I have to say, while I wish I could get a better view, I l love the colors.

Rainbow connection

So yesterday was just another day of rain around here but unlike the others, we had the chance to see a rainbow. Now since I had my camera back, I was excited to take lots of pictures.

Unfortunately, I don’t know what happened to the auto focus function, so I wasn’t really happy with any of the pictures except for this one. So while I work on that and enjoy the song Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog, at least I have this one.

Tree trunk

So I got my camera back yesterday after a good cleaning and I was just so happy to have it and to go take some picture. Now while I seem have lost the automatic focus, I was still able to enjoy my old standby, Emmenegger Nature Park.

That said, I took plenty of sunset pictures but none of them seem to be exactly what I was looking for tonight, but as usual, a tree trunk see to do the trick.

I must admit it was also nice to look at the sky and not see dust spots. As soon as I figure out the automatic focus, I’ll go back out again and get that memorable sunset picture but until then, trees will do just fine.

Forest sunset

As of today my camera is getting a good cleaning, so while that’s happening, I’ve been going through some of my older pictures to post. This is another one that is simple but nice. I love how the sun is surrounded by all of the trees.

I also really love how the sun is right in the middle of a crowded forest, yet it stills stands out. The fact that your able to see it with all of the trees no doubt helps too. Meanwhile, I can’t wait to get my camera back.

Skyline

As you can probably tell, the sky is one of my favorite subjects for taking a picture of and last night we had some storms come through, which usually creates some nice settings and last night was no exception.

For me, this was just a rather simple picture but one that for some reason just one that really caught my eye. It’s looking over the trees in our neighborhood as the storms made their way through the region.

That bright object in the sky

I know there’s this bright object in the sky that I’ve seen before but, these days all I see are clouds. Now don’t get me wrong I love clouds but tonight’s article has this incredible picture of that “object”, otherwise known as the sun.

Tonight’s article is entitled “These Images Show the Sun’s Surface in Greater Detail Than Ever Before” by Dennis Overbye at the New York Times. I just love the picture!

Meteorites in Missouri

So this story was all over the local news recently as a meteorite was believed to have struck Warren County, Missouri last night. As someone who has always looked up to the sky, particularly when we’re up in northern Minnesota, I found this story incredibly fascinating.

The article is entitled “Scientists think there may be meteorites in this Missouri pasture. The hunt is on” by over at our local newspaper, the  What I wouldn’t give to go and take a look for the meteorite myself.

My head in the clouds

It’s funny how sometimes when you just don’t have what you’re looking for, if you’re just patient, it will come to you. So this article today, entitled “Take time to look at the clouds“ by Melissa Breyer over at Treehugger was definitely worth the wait. In fact, attached to the article was another article entitled “NASA wants people to look at the clouds“ again by Melissa Breyer. Add to the fact that I work in a rather tall building and that I get some amazing views of the clouds, of course I’m going to participate.
