May showers

I know there’s that old phrase April showers bring May flowers. These day’s it almost seems like the same can be said regarding May showers. So today I thought I would post this picture of a cloudy day as that seems like that’s all we have these days.

A stranger

So I was on one of my nature walks, taking pictures when a stranger approached me and towards the end of our conversation, mentioned that there was a waterfall nearby that I should take a picture of. So of course I did.

Turning orange

When I first read this article entitled “Athens turns orange, Helsinki goes white as Europe’s weather springs a surprise” by Sugam Pokharel over at CNN, I was immediately reminded of the book Sand by Michael Welland. I could never have imagined these images. Afterwards, I asked my friend about it. Though she lives in Thessaloniki, she said “it rains a bit and it looks like you threw a bucket of red mud on the car“. Scary.

Memories

This is one of those places where I’ve looked time and time again and it seems, no matter the time or the season, the views is never the same. It’s also one of my favorite places to look, like when I look out over our lake up in northern Minnesota, as both have great memories.

Why I like nature

Well, it starts with the birds, the butterflies and the bees. They take me somewhere that I don’t know if I can exactly tell you where it is. It’s just that place where I find myself.

My oldest and I helping our new neighbor, the opposum a couple of weeks ago, took me there too. Then last week, helping a baby bird the other day on the way to work, moving it off the sidewalk, took me there too. Thank you mother nature.

New neighbor

So the other night my oldest son and I ran into a neighbor of ours though I don’t know if it’s the our neighbor from way back when or a new neighbor. The only difference was this time included another one of our neighbors, Athena our next door neighbors huskie.

Turns out it’s a good thing we were there as Athena was trying to play with our other neighbor, the opposum. So while my oldest reigned in Athena, I gave the opposum a gentle push along, making sure to keep the two neighbors apart. What happens next, I guess we’ll see.

Monday, Monday

I was just thinking this as I solved wordle today and talking to my friends. It does of course seem appropriate with the eclipse today as it’s well, something that everyone’s been talking about for months and months.

Bird watching

I have to admit, I never thought that bird watching would be something I would enjoy but, after putting a bird bath outside my bedroom window, It’s started to peak my interest.

In fact, I came recently came across an article entitled LeConte’s Sparrow, from the St. Louis chapter of Audubon that interested me. While I couldn’t find that article online, I did find this one entitled “LeConte’s Sparrow over at Cornell Lab courtesy of that article. One of nineteen North American sparrows that we see in Missouri.
